Many items that we gather today had their origins in practical uses. Teapots are no exception. They were in the first place intended only as a vessel for brewing, and even drinking tea and while we still use them for brewing tea today, they are likewise collectables that we may hold on to as an investment, or as a memory of other times.

Nowadays it seems that most people don’t brew their tea in a teapot, and even I succumb to the comfortableness of just boiling water and tossing in a teabag. But I’ve lately dusted off my teapot collectables because as percentage of a health initiative I am drinking a lot of green tea and I find it much posing no difficulty to brew a whole pot and sip it all around the day rather than keep getting up and making one single cup at a time.

Most of the teapots in my collection came from my grandmothers. One of my favored memories of my mother and grandmothers is sitting around the table with a pot of tea. I was lucky sufficient to be included, and later on in life to inherit my grandmother’s collection of teapots. That’s what started me on the road to gathering teapots myself. I loved that each time we sat down for our tea party, we applied a dissimilar teapot.

Some of the teapot collectibles that my grandmother had were novelty teapots shaped like fruits and vegetables. There was likewise one that was shaped like an old English cottage that I loved then, and still use today. Other teapots in the collection never got employed because they were too fragile. She had a terrifi collection of Japanese Nippon tea sets, and those never got used. While the novelty teapots were always my favorites, my grandma’s favorites were the black Wedgwood teapots that she only got out on particular occasions.

I love that teapots are collectables that have a practical use. Even altho numerous persons keep their teapot collectables only as a decoration, I get outstanding joy out of using mine and thinking when it comes to my mother and my grandmothers as I sip my tea allround the day. And it’s outstanding to be capable to indulge in my gathering habit knowing that my teapots are collectables that will not just sit on the shelf and gather dust.
